He had another year at the Jets where three teams had to lose on the last day of the season to let him "make the playoffs". The guy is lifetime under .500 and he is somehow a great coach? Why do you think Jets fans call him quarterback killer? Look at the list. Heck, just limit to K.C. Trent Green, Damon Huard, and if my eyes don't deceive, Brody was limping a few times last Sunday as well. How many running backs has he gone through his career? Just look up the injury lists. Trying to play 1948 style football in the 21 century is not only backward arsed thinking, it is just STUPID. The team speed of defenses is exactly what led to the west coast offense. It helped negate the bull rush, run blitz on first down. You don't have to pass every down but by god you don't have to run every first down either! This guy couldn't coach a Pop Warner team. Absolutely no imagination and he refuses to take ANY responsibility for this team's performance. The local media goes right along with him. Don't want to be seen as insensitive you know. If Dick Vermeil had handled this team in this manner the media would be screaming for his head on a plate. And the excuses get worse every week. First it was give him time, he's implementing his plan. Oh really? How hard is it to insert the "prevent offense" technique? You know the one. Run run run(or string Tony out on 3 and long over the middle) punt. Remember this gem? I am just paraphrasing but it was basically " I told 'em it is okay to punt, just don't turn the ball over". Huh? Isn't that exactly what you are doing when you punt 6-8 times a game? The next big joke was blaming personnel. Excuse me but you and Carl have had two full drafts and NONE of your picks stands out as a super star. Jared Allen? Vermeil. Derrick Johnson? Vermeil. The only player who MIGHT become and all pro is Tamba Hali and that is questionable. Larry Johnson? Vermeil era and he called him on his BS attitude. You kissed his arse. Now he's injured and you are down to a rookie. The next big excuse was the loss at O line. You and Carl did NOTHING. ZIP, ZERO, NADA for two FULL drafts to address this. There are now rumbles that this years draft will focus mainly on the defensive secondary. Now we have to listen to the guy deny there is a game and clock management problem. He flatly denied it.
